The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will function as an integral member of the surgical team providing advanced practitioner support in the pre- and post-operative settings inpatient/outpatient careareasand operating room. The provider will work closely with surgeons residents and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality efficient and patient-centered care.
This position will be somewhat specialty-specific focusing on assigned surgical subspecialties but will also require cross-training to provide coverage in the absence of residents or a surgeons primary physician assistant or nurse practitioner.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical and Surgical Duties:
Assistthe surgeon in preparation for surgery
Conduct pre- and post-operative patient evaluations rounds and documentation.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests asappropriateand communicate findings to the surgical team.
Provide cross-coverage in the Medical Group and support across specialties asappropriate.
Participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans.
Assistsduring surgical procedures following all applicable standards and protocols.
Perform wound closure dressing application and post-operative care as directed by the attending surgeon
Operational Responsibilities:
Monitor andoptimizepatient flow in inpatient and outpatient settings to reduce delays and improve throughput.
Collaborate with scheduling teams to ensure efficient use of operating room time and resources.
Support compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
Administrative and Educational Duties:
Maintainaccurateandtimelymedical recordsin accordance withhospital policies and regulatory standards.
Participate in ongoing education training and skills development tomaintaincross-specialty competency.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and departmental goals.
Qualifications:
Graduateofan accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
Current valid state license (PA or NP) andappropriate certification(NCCPA or ANCC/AANP).
Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Minimum of 12 years of surgical or perioperative experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods andassistwith patient positioning and transfers in and outside of surgical roominpatientand outpatient environment.
Flexibility to meet scheduling and on-call requirements including occasional weekends evenings and holidays.

Schedule:Four (4) 10-hour shifts per week
Call Requirements:One evening of night call per week and participation in a1-in-6 weekend call rotation
