The opportunity

We are seeking casual or part time Dental Assistants to join our Community Dental team at our Lilydale and Ashburton clinics. Our Community Dental Program provides high quality public oral health services in a supportive multidisciplinary environment focused on equity prevention and patient-centred care. This role is ideal for someone looking forstable employment meaningful work and the flexibility of work-life balance without the pressures of private practice.

About the role

The AccessHC dental program provides community based dental care to all children under 12 yrs of age adult concession card holders and their dependants (under 18 yrs).

You would be part of a multidisciplinary dental team comprising of dentists dental therapists oral health therapists dental prosthetists oral health educators and dental assistants.A high level of knowledge and skills are required to provide chairside assistance and undertake a range of dental best practice procedures and high level of infection control standards is essential.

The locations are at our Ashburton and Lilydale Dental Clinics:

Workdays: Monday & Wednesday & Wednesday & Thursday

Hours: 8.00am - 5.00pm

What you will be doing

Key Responsibilities

  • Chairside assisting across general and preventive dentistry
  • Infection control and sterilisation in line with standards
  • Preparing patients and supporting clinicians
  • Clinical and administrative assistance as required
  • Contributing to a culturally safe welcoming environment

What you will bring

The skills and experience you will bring to this role as the successful candidate you will have: Key Selection Criteria

  • Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (essential)
  • Minimum 3 years experience with at least 6 months within Australia
  • Demonstrated skill and ability in providing a range of dental chairside support to clinicians
  • Strong communication and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to community-focused patient-centred care

Attributes we value

  • Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services highly desirable
  • Knowledge of electronic patient management system Titanium/Exact & Microsoft 365 suite
  • Previous experience in community dental /private practice
  • Flexibility in providing dental services in alternative settings e.g. outreach activities Smile Squad
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to people from a diverse range of social cultural and ethnics backgrounds
