The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is recognised as a key management / leadership position within the organisation and is central to the fulfilment of the hospitals mission and vision. As a leader of the nursing profession the NUM sets expectations develops plans and manages processes to assess improve and maintain the professions management clinical educational and support activities.
The NUM is responsible for:
- Managing the day to day clinical coordination within the unit
- Collaborating with senior management to plan organise implement and evaluate patient services
- Understanding quality improvement and implementing effective initiatives in consultation with the Director of Clinical Services
- Dealing with professional issues relating to nursing within the clinical setting
- Ensuring all treatment is outcome based and patient centred
- Clinical care coordination management of patient flow and discharge planning with an emphasis on demand management and seamless integration with other service components
To be successful applicants will need to possess the following:
- Current Registration with AHPRA
- A minimum of five (5) years post-registration experience with appropriate qualification and / or experience in the relevant nursing speciality and have held an Associate Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent position.
- Advanced life support certificate or working towards
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team so as to motivate and lead people
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles governing WHS infection control quality improvement and waste management
- Commitment to the Mission and Values of St Vincents Private Hospital.
