Position Summary

The Assistant Womens Softball Coach is responsible for the development training and performance of the softball athletes which typically includes all positions. This role involves teaching fundamental skills techniques and strategies essential for softball athletes to excel. The coach will collaborate closely with the Head Coach and other coaching staff to implement an effective softball program.

Providing coaching expertise and administrative oversight to the team of college athletes while collaborating closely with team coaches and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes.

Education/ Experience

What you will need to be successful!

Player Development:

- Train and mentor softball players in fundamental skills such as defense and hitting mechanics and footwork running

- Create individualized training programs that address the specific needs and strengths of each athlete.

Game Preparation:

- Develop and implement practice plans that focus on improving athletes performance.

- Track and analyze individual and team performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.

- Communicate effectively with other coaching staff to ensure cohesive team strategies.

Mentorship and Leadership:

- Foster a positive and competitive environment that encourages growth and development among athletes.

- Serve as a role model and mentor to athletes promoting teamwork discipline and a strong work ethic.

Recruitment and Scouting:

- Assist in scouting and evaluating potential recruits providing insights on player potential and fit within the program.

Administrative Duties:

- Maintain accurate records of player progress and development.

- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to team discussions regarding strategy and player development.

Qualifications:

- Experience in sports management physical education or a related field (preferred).

- Previous coaching experience particularly with softball athletes at high school college or professional level.

- Strong understanding of softball mechanics.

- Experience in analyzing meet films and using video analysis software.

Skills:

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Strong leadership abilities and the capability to motivate and inspire players.

- Analytical mindset with a focus on performance metrics and improvement.

- Ability to work collaboratively with other coaching staff and players.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to participate in practice and training sessions demonstrating techniques as needed.

- Capability to work long hours including evenings and weekends during the season.
