Senior Controls Engineer Customer Support (NASC)

Role Overview

Vanderlande is looking for a Senior Controls Engineer to support live mission-critical automation systems for customers across North America. In this role you will provide third-level controls support resolve complex PLC-related issues and contribute to continuous system and service improvements.

This position combines advanced technical troubleshooting customer interaction and occasional on-site support with a strong focus on system reliability and customer satisfaction.

What Youll Do

• Provide third-level support for complex PLC controls and automation incidents
• Troubleshoot live systems using Rockwell Automation PLC platforms (ControlLogix CompactLogix GuardLogix) with Studio 5000 / RSLogix
• Diagnose issues related to PLC logic HMI/SCADA safety systems industrial networks and I/O
• Perform structured root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions
• Support customers remotely via secure VPN connections
• Travel to customer sites across North America to perform:
  • Software deployments and upgrades
  • System health checks
  • Performance improvements and corrective actions
• Create and maintain technical documentation and troubleshooting guides
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve tools processes and service delivery

What You Bring

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Automation Mechatronics or equivalent experience
• 3 years of experience in industrial automation or controls support
• Strong hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation PLCs and Studio 5000
• Experience with industrial networks such as EtherNet/IP (ControlNet / DeviceNet is a plus)
• Ability to troubleshoot live production systems in a structured and calm manner
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
• Willingness to participate in a compensated on-call / stand-by rotation
