Job Summary
In accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the supervisor and under the general supervision of a radiologist the MI Breast Sonographer performs breast ultrasound examinations a majority of the time. Duties include receiving and completing requisitions forms and reports; preparing and monitoring supplies and equipment; patient monitoring; and operating ultrasound equipment including preparing and presenting patient data to radiologist.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Graduation from an approved Ultrasound or Medical Radiation Technologist Diploma program.
Sonography Canada and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification credentials as a Breast Sonographer and One (1) year recent related experience in a health care setting or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Eligible for registration with Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) or Sonography Canada.
