The Senior Tax Preparer/ CPA is responsible for preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns while providing high-level tax guidance to clients. This role requires deep knowledge of federal and state tax regulations strong client communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced CPA firm environment. Tax Preparation & Review
Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns including:
Ensure compliance with current tax laws and regulations
Identify tax planning opportunities and strategies for clients
Review work prepared by junior staff and provide guidance as needed
Client Advisory & Communication
Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients
Communicate tax matters clearly and professionally
Respond to client inquiries and provide proactive tax guidance
Assist clients with IRS and state tax notices and correspondence
Firm & Compliance Support
Stay current on tax law changes and industry updates
Assist with tax projections extensions and amended returns
Support tax planning engagements and year-round advisory services
Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical standards
Requirements
CPA license preferred (required for CPA title)
Minimum 5 years of tax preparation experience in a public accounting firm
Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
Experience preparing multi-entity and multi-state returns
Excellent analytical organizational and time management skills
Experience with tax planning and advisory services
Familiarity with QuickBooks and client accounting records
