Responsibilities
Assesses the needs of patients and families providing appropriate medical care.
Reports verbally and in writing observations and medical care of the patient. Provides accurate medical documentation of all medical treatment provided.
May be assigned various administrative and/or hospital duties which may include but is not limited to: inventory and ordering supplies squad readiness checks/testings and inventories; verifying that ambulance and its contents are in proper working condition; maintain familiarity with specialized equipment etc.
Participates in Quality Assurance/Quality Initiative processes by properly reviewing patient care reports as set forth by department standards.
Assists in providing assistance in the hospital emergency department
Operates at level of certification as allowed by protocol with medical director approval (EMT/Paramedic).
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Documents daily weekly and monthly ambulance/secure ambulance checks to ensure proper stock levels of equipment and supplies.
Prepares the ambulances by ensuring they are cleaned and in a state of readiness.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of EMS training from an approved training course.
- Current certification at EMT-PM level is required.
- Valid Iowa drivers license for at least three years with an acceptable or clear rating according to the Motor Vehicle Record chart. (see below).
- Must have a minimum of two years driving experience with no record of DUI DWI or similar alcohol or drug related offenses over the past five years.
- No record of reckless driving careless driving speeding over 15 miles above the speed limit fleeing or eluding a police officer chemical test refusal leaving the scene of an accident driving after revocation or suspension or passing a stopped school bus in the last five years.
Preferred:
- Current certification in PHTLS PEARS.
- Current NREMT certification.
- Critical Care Paramedic Endorsement
- Previous EMS experience
