The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention protection and preparation as well as the care custody and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. About The SOIU Unit:

The Special Operations & Intelligence Unit (SOIU) is within the Department of Adult Correction and is responsible for identifying appropriate security goals objectives standards strategies and technologies used. SOIU also directs activities of both Prisons and Community Corrections staff and oversees the collection analysis and sharing of intelligence information.

    Minimum Education and Experience

    Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience.     High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of dispatcher experience and work efficiently under pressure (OR) an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Necessary Special Qualifications: Must meet applicable Education Employment and Training standards as required to be Department of Criminal Information (DCI) certified. Must be DCI certified or become certified within 120 days of employment and maintain certification by recertification every 2 years.
