The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest most complex agencies in the state and has approximately 17000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health safety and well-being of all North Carolinians providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf blind developmentally disabled and mentally ill and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.
Description of Work
The Electrician II position is a journey-level role focused on the construction installation maintenance and repair of electrical systems equipment and fixtures. Working independently under general supervision Electrician IIs perform tasks according to accepted trade practices with complex assignments typically accompanied by blueprints or sketches. Responsibilities include troubleshooting diagnosing and repairing or replacing wiring electrical devices medical equipment and machinery as well as installing new circuits and entertainment equipment. Preventive maintenance is regularly conducted to ensure continued functionality and safety of systems. Electrician IIs must follow all safety and health protocols including proper lifting techniques use of protective gear and compliance with infection control guidelines. All incidents must be reported immediately and additional duties may be assigned to support the effective management of Caswell Center and the well-being of its clients. Considerable knowledge of standard practices and methods in the electrical trade along with strong skills in the proper use and maintenance of trade tools.
Proficient in identifying and correcting defects in electrical systems and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings allows me to work accurately and efficiently.
Follow both oral and written instructions with precision and have experience training others in the electrical trade.
A valid North Carolina drivers license is required.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Based on the nature of work performed may require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.
