Employment Status: Part-time non-exempt paid position

Summary of Position:
Grow Pittsburgh is seeking a Seasonal School Gardens Intern for the 2025 season. This is a part-time paid position focusing on supporting our School Gardens Network and curriculum development. The position will work both independently collaborate with the team and school partners and teach in school gardens.
Responsibilities include:
- Curriculum Development
- Updating and standardizing Grow Pittsburgh lesson plans
- Providing technical support to teachers and school partners
- Maintaining and potentially teaching in 1-3 school gardens
- Supporting the work of the school garden team in general - co-teaching with other educators attending teacher workshop series managing supplies coordinating soil moves
- Communicating and maintaining positive relationships with a wide range of diverse community partners
- Editing School Garden Network documents - Learning Garden Manual transition documents etc.
- Engaging with community members through various community outreach activities.
- Ability to work in all types of weather(hot cold rainy) - leftover from farm ed intern app but may be unnecessary for this role..
Timeline: mid-March - mid-June
Hours: 16-24 hours/ week. Also flexible depending on university internship requirements
- Flexible what days or half days are worked
Compensation: $17 / hour
Qualifications Skills & Requirements:
- Experience with gardening and working in schools preferred
- Self-motivated punctual and should enjoy working with people
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Detail oriented ability to work efficiently and independently
- We are a public facing organization so we expect all staff to be courteous and professional when interacting with the public
Site Location: Hybrid work position split between remote work the Grow Pittsburgh office at 6587 Hamilton Ave 15206 and several regional schools.
