The Conventional Grit Blaster Technician is responsible for preparing metal surfaces by removing rust scale paint and contaminants using abrasive blasting equipment to ensure proper coating adhesion and product quality. This role supports production schedules while maintaining safety quality and cleanliness standards.

- Duration: 2 weeks
- Schedule: 6 10s; Mon to Sat; Off Sunday
- Pay Rate: $25-$27 DOE
- Per Diem: (7 Days): $160 days stayed
- Travel out pay: $50
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
- Operate conventional grit blasting equipment to clean and prepare metal surfaces
- Select proper abrasive media based on job requirements
- Inspect parts before and after blasting to ensure surface profile and cleanliness standards are met
- Mask protect and handle parts to prevent damage
- Maintain blasting equipment and report malfunctions or needed repairs
- Follow safety protocols including PPE ventilation and dust control requirements
- Keep blasting areas clean and organized
- Meet production deadlines while maintaining quality standards
- Accurately complete work orders and inspection documentation
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Drivers License
- 1 year experience in abrasive blasting or industrial surface preparation preferred
- Ability to read work instructions blueprints and surface preparation specifications
- Familiarity with SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Successfully pass drug test and background check
