This position can be based out of any of GAIs office locations. GAIs Power Business Unit focuses on developing and supporting Energy Institutional Industrial and Manufacturing clients.
Job Duties:
- Plans designs and facilitates civil engineer project design tasks such as site grading and drainage design; access road design; erosion and sediment pollution control design; stormwater management design; report preparation; and permitting.
- Performs technical and feasibility studies.
- Collaborates with other professionals and discusses requirements with team members.
- Uses computer programs to develop detailed designs.
- Ensures that work products meet client environmental and safety requirements.
- Performs work with minimal guidance and supervision.
- Handles complex issues and refers only the most complex issues to more experienced staff.
- Strong working knowledge of civil engineering design tasks and a positive attitude.
- Possesses strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and analysis modules.
- Performs moderate to complex civil design tasks while delegating more routine tasks to staff with less experience.
- Mentor guide and check the work of less experienced staff.
- Strong team collaboration oral and written communication design expertise and problem-solving skills are required.
- Adhere to the safety and quality procedures of GAI and our clients.
- Travel to other offices/meet with clients/attend project-specific meetings (occasional local/regional travel that is expected to be 5%-10% of the time).

- Occasionally plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work.
- Prepares scopes budgets and schedules for assignments.
- Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or projects.
Management Responsibility
- Receives general direction on key objectives. Receives guidance on unconventional/complex problems direction on modified techniques and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
- Mentors junior staff by providing guidance explaining professional responsibilities and reviewing work products.
- Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.
Communication Skills
- Communicates effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
