Brush Collection-Refuse Equipment Mechanic

Under general supervision conducts skilled mechanic work and vehicle maintenance of light medium and heavy-duty trucks under the direct supervision of a supervisor. Employee conducts complete mechanic work including preventive maintenance proper documentation of work and recordation maintenance and safeguard of working tools and equipment maintenance of safe and clean working area and correct/proper maintenance and repair procedures. Employee also diagnoses adjusts re-aligns and/or repairs various refuse equipment including automated semi-automated and trailers. Employee frequently uses independent mature judgment when dealing with repairs keeping safety as a priority. Employee must be able to handle stress as well as multiple tasks in spite of interruptions. Employee has daily contact with other department which requires simple courtesies and exercise of tack and diplomacy. This is a technical/mechanical position and the employee has no supervisory responsibilities.
