Position Summary: The Retail Pharmacy Technician supports safe accurate and customer-focused medication services within the outpatient retail pharmacy. This role works closely with the pharmacist and other pharmacy team members to prepare prescriptions manage inventory process transactions and provide clear courteous communication to patients. As part of a collaborative and well-organized pharmacy environment the technician helps ensure compliance with state and federal regulations maintains the confidentiality of patient information and supports efficient daily operations. Through consistent attention to detail dependable teamwork and a patient-centered approach the Retail Pharmacy Technician helps promote timely access to medications and a positive overall patient experience. Key Responsibilities: Prepare package and label prescription medications in accordance with pharmacist direction and established retail pharmacy standards. Process prescription orders insurance claims and customer transactions while maintaining accuracy confidentiality and regulatory compliance. Maintain pharmacy inventory by receiving shipments stocking shelves rotating products and monitoring for outdates or storage issues. Assist customers at the counter and by phone providing clear communication gathering necessary information and directing clinical questions to the pharmacist. Document all required activities in pharmacy software systems and support accurate recordkeeping billing and compliance workflows. Follow safety quality and infection-prevention procedures while contributing to an organized efficient and patient-centered retail environment.
Licenses and Certifications Required Current Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing in the State of North Dakota. National Certification desirable but not required. Educational Requirements Education as required or accepted by the North Dakota State Board of Pharmacy for licensure. Education may be evidenced by proof of licensure with the North Dakota State Board of Pharmacy. Yearly renewal of license by Board of Pharmacy and required amount of acceptable continued education as specified by the Board of Pharmacy. Experience Requirements Retail Pharmacy experience preferred. Excellent customer service and team skills needed for interaction with Pharmacy personnel patients and medical staff. Use of computers preferred. Good math skills needed. Special Skills or Training Requirements Position requires professional demeanor courteous attitude ability to maintain and respect to a high degree the confidentiality of patient health information and data.
