Job Summary

JOB TITLE: LVN IV Certified

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Pre-Op Coordinator (LVN) is responsible for ensuring all patients scheduled for surgery are fully prepared and medically optimized prior to their procedure. This includes obtaining and verifying required History and Physical (H&P) documentation coordinating and tracking pre-operative testing and communicating with physicians offices and patients to ensure all necessary medical clearances and documentation are completed in a timely manner. The role supports patient safety regulatory compliance and efficient surgical scheduling.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Review surgical schedules to identify required pre-operative documentation and testing for each patient.
    • Obtain verify and track current History and Physical (H&P) reports to ensure compliance within required timeframes.
    • Obtain verify and track required pre-operative testing (labs EKGs imaging medical clearances) based on procedure and patient history.
    • Communicate with surgeon offices primary care providers specialists and patients to secure outstanding documentation.
    • Ensure all pre-operative requirements are completed prior to the date of surgery to prevent cancellations or delays.
    • Review patient charts for completeness and escalate any concerns or deficiencies to the appropriate clinical staff.
    • Must apply critical thinking skills.

    REQUIREMENTS:

      • Graduate of approved school of professional nursing with current and valid LVN licensure.
      • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience required in patient assessment.
      • Knowledge of State Federal and Accrediting Body regulations and standards related to healthcare.
      • BLS required.
      • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
      • Is aware of professional nursing standard and performs in accordance with them.
