Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Engineering & Plant Operations this position performs a wide variety of tasks to train supervise and support a skilled technical staff (6 people). Responsible and accountable for the physical plant operations of engineering maintenance power plant and provides support as needed to the Hospital properties. Maintains an orderly and efficient hospital-wide work order system.
This position is responsible for managing a preventative maintenance (PM) program with emphasis on code and safety requirements and must be able to demonstrate proficiency with monthly reports annual and all regulatory required reports. This position works with the Director of Engineering Services to develop and maintain a multimillion-dollar budget and all purchasing functions that are necessary to support the operation of the power plant and facilities as well as outside properties.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the planned unplanned and daily activities of the Facilities engineering Department. Maintains a 24/7 support coverage and general staffing of the Plant and Engineering Department. Provides performance feedback and intervenes on issues of substandard performance per our HR policies.
- Establishes policies for equipment maintenance and failure support. Maintains an operational multi-million dollar budget and purchasing functions to support all physical plant requirements. Maintains the PM program that meets all regulatory agency (CMS TJC and DPH) requirements. Assumes responsibility for plant compliance with DEEP regulations and develops corrective actions and notifications during periods when compliance with such standards has failed.
- Conducts testing programs for insurance requirements and state and federal programs. Schedules testing elements of the LSC/Joint Commission. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the operational components of the fire safety equipment. Documents results and directs corrective action as required by code.
- Schedules and coordinates construction remediation activities in affected areas and oversees the in-house projects. Monitors contractors and documents interim Life Safety Measures report per Joint Commission.
- Conducts inspections for the annual Fire Marshall Licenses certification. Documents inspection of sprinkler system for the insurance carrier.
- Serves on various committees including The Environment of Care Committee and Infection Control. Monitors work order system to improve customer satisfaction.
- Is responsible for maintaining and requesting capital/operational budget for the Engineering Department.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. 9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Information:
- High degree of mechanical aptitude with minimum with 5 years in the field.
- Preferred with experience in Health care environment/ Hospitals
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience
