MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Employees in this classification may be required to work evenings and weekends.
- Push carts full of heavy books and lift up to 35 lbs.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Principles and practices of librarianship including those for information retrieval reference and readers advisory work and cataloging.
- Public library programs and their relationship to community needs.
- Library outreach services.
- Popular and evergreen reading materials and information sources in a variety of formats and genres.
- Library business methods procedures and practices.
- Communicate effectively with the public and colleagues in person online in writing and on the phone.
- Speak about library materials and services to community groups of all ages.
- Prepare proposals and reports for review.
- Exercise interpersonal sensitivity while working with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
- Classification and cataloging of library materials.
- Develop expertise in troubleshooting common consumer technology and library technology issues.
- Respond to occasional high-pressure situations.

EXAMINATION COMPONENTS
- A review of applicants application to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process.
- A pre-recorded virtual oral examination which will be weighted as 100% of the candidates final examination score. The oral examination may contain situational exercises.
