Job Summary
A well-regarded secondary school in Taunton is seeking a talented and ambitious Lead Teacher of Art to join its creative faculty from April 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Art practitioner to take on additional responsibility within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment.
Art is a valued subject within the school with strong pupil engagement and high-quality outcomes at KS3 and KS4 and opportunities at KS5 depending on experience.
The Role
Teaching Art across KS3 and KS4 with KS5 depending on experience
Leading on teaching and learning within the Art department
Supporting curriculum planning assessment and departmental development
Driving high standards in coursework sketchbook development and final outcomes
Organising displays exhibitions and enrichment opportunities
Coaching and supporting colleagues to maintain consistent high-quality practice
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
A degree in Art Fine Art or a related subject
Proven experience teaching Art at secondary level
A strong track record of excellent classroom practice and pupil progress
Experience leading initiatives or contributing to departmental development
High expectations for pupil engagement creativity and achievement
