Role Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Litigator to join the firms Shelton office and serve as a lead attorney on a robust docket of healthcare liability defense matters. This is not a volume-driven assembly-line practice. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and confident courtroom advocate who is equally comfortable at the helm of a jury trial managing dispositive motions or guiding a client through the nuances of appellate review.

This role demands someone who can step in and immediately manage cases independently while also collaborating with partners and junior associates to develop case strategy refine legal arguments and ensure consistency in the quality of work product.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as first- or second-chair counsel in medical malpractice and professional liability trials in Connecticut state and federal courts.
  • Draft and argue complex motions including dispositive motions evidentiary motions and appellate briefs.
  • Manage all phases of litigation from pleadings through discovery expert depositions trial and post-trial motions.
  • Conduct and defend depositions of fact witnesses party representatives and medical experts.
  • Develop and execute case strategies in coordination with partners and clients.
  • Maintain direct high-touch communication with healthcare clients keeping them informed and engaged throughout the litigation lifecycle.
  • Mentor and supervise junior associates in case management legal writing and court appearances.
  • Uphold the firms commitment to ethical advocacy precision and client-centered service.
Candidate Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7 years of litigation experience with a substantial portion dedicated to medical malpractice or healthcare liability defense.
  • Demonstrated trial experience including jury verdicts or significant evidentiary hearings; appellate experience strongly preferred.
  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar is required. Admission to the New York Bar is a significant advantage as the firm handles matters in both jurisdictions.
  • Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills with a portfolio of complex motion practice and/or appellate briefing.
  • Proven ability to manage a high-stakes caseload independently while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; must be comfortable advising clients collaborating with colleagues and serving as a resource to less experienced attorneys.
  • JD from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
