Description

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSSrelated work Seaspan Shipyards is leading the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada by Canadians.

The Intern Production Support facilitates ship construction activities by assisting with production planning material coordination and work package development. The role involves reviewing drawings updating ERP data tracking progress validating scope in the system against the physical state and resolving production issues while collaborating with engineering and operations teams to ensure efficient and timely execution of shipyard work.

Note: Due to business needs this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue North Vancouver.

What youll do
Develop and modify detailed worklists and packages including additional production information material lists and work instructions to support compartment and system plans
Review engineering drawings and interpret bills of materials for production planning
Apply run rules for material availability and update planned shop orders
Check foundations for equipment on the critical path
Identify shop orders and installation status
Investigate holds or shortages in critical equipment and collaborate with PCTs and supervisors to resolve
Track physical and transactional production progress
Investigate causes of issues and delays in production and expedite activities to eliminate them
Investigate cross-discipline predecessor scope to enable work center readiness
Maintain data in ERP systems and document control platforms
Collaborate with stakeholders across Engineering Production Support Operations and CMDM
Perform additional duties as assigned

What youll bring
Enrollment in the 3rd or 4th year of a technical engineering program such as Manufacturing Industrial Mechanical or Mechatronics
Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Strong analytical organizational and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.

Start Date of Internship: Monday May 4th 2026.
End Date of Internship: Friday December 18th 2026 (8-Months).
