The Mechanical Superintendent leads directs and coordinates the work of mechanical subcontractors and field crews. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of mechanical construction activities on assigned projects ensuring all field operations are executed safely efficiently and in alignment with company objectives and scope of work.


This position is located in Kakabeka ON.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Providepeopleleadership byestablishingand maintaining effective working relationships with mechanical trades forepersons and subcontractors to promote positive morale and high-performance job sites.

  • Provide safety leadership through the Bird Safety Program and ongoing monitoring of safety performance for mechanical field staff and subcontractors with a focus on piping boiler and mechanical system installations.

  • Supervise and develop site team members through regular feedback training and coaching; ensuretimelycompletion of performance evaluations.

  • Contributeto the development refinement and execution of the mechanical project schedule coordinating closely with other disciplines.

  • Administer mechanical contracts subcontracts purchase orders site instructions and change notices to ensure scopes terms and conditions are properly executed.

  • Identifyand advise on mechanical design deficiencies constructability issues schedule interruptions and installation challenges related to piping systems boilers HVAC and associated equipment; work collaboratively with the Project Manager and consultants to resolve issues.

  • Monitor and evaluate mechanical subcontractor performance with respect to safety scope of work quality and productivity.

  • Ensure quality of mechanical workmanship piping installations boiler systems and materialsin accordance withspecifications codes and industry standards.

  • Ensuresufficientskilled mechanicalworkforceis provided to meet safety schedule and qualityobjectives.

  • Maintain daily mechanical site documentation including field reports safety inspections inspection and test plans (ITPs) schedule updates and deficiency tracking.

What We Are Looking For

  • Post-secondary education such as a degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology Construction Management or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 10 years of experience as a Superintendent or Mechanical Superintendent on industrial institutional or commercial projects involving complex mechanical systems.

  • Demonstrated progressive experience overseeing mechanical scopes including piping systems boiler installations pressure systems and associated mechanical equipment.

  • Trade background in mechanical trades (pipefitting plumbing or HVAC) and/or Gold Seal Certification considered a strong asset.

  • Proven ability to effectively supervise coordinate and schedule mechanical construction activities to ensure projects are completed on time on budgetand toclient satisfaction.

  • Strong leadership field management and problem-solving skills that support a collaborative approach to delivering results and developing high-performing teams.

  • Service- and results-oriented with the ability to build andmaintaintrusted relationships with owners consultants subcontractors inspectors and internal team members.

  • Demonstrated competence in mechanical safety management workforce planning project execution cost control quality assurance and site administration.

  • Proactive problem-solver with the ability to manage challenging field conditions and drive positive outcomes.

  • Sound knowledge of mechanical construction methods piping and boiler systems applicable codes and standards and the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings P&IDs and specifications.

  • Excellent computer skills withproficiencyin MS Office and scheduling tools such as MS Project.
