Chemistry Technical Lab Supervisor - Full Time Days

About the Elliot Hospital Laboratory:

The Elliot Hospital Laboratory is a full service 24/7 operation. We are both CAP and AABB addition to traditional inpatient and outpatient work the laboratory supports a Level II trauma center Level III NICU High Risk Maternity unit three urgent cares two cancer centers a community health center and approximately 60 nursing and assisted living facilities. Our yearly billable volume is approximately 1.6 million tests.

In addition our Blood bank is an American Red Cross Blood depot for the State of New Hampshire supporting other hospital with urgent blood product needs.

About the Job

Responsible for technical and scientific oversight of the satellite laboratory department performing high complexity testing. Provides supervision and ensures proficiency and quality control of method selection verification of procedures resolution of technical problems remedial actions as warranted and release of test results.

What Youll Do

• Guides day-to-day departmental procedures and practices while supervising staff to ensure operational and technical reporting accuracy to ensure timely useful processed specimens (blocks and slides) for Pathologist diagnostic determination.
• Participates in the selection process of candidates for employment in the department.
• Oversees the daily operations of the department and assigned staff which includes but is not limited to staff performance disciplinary actions training and competency.
• Establish and maintain departmental procedures.
• Plans and performs diversified duties using judgment facts and conditions to solve problems and take action as determined necessary by assuring that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance specifications.
• Prepares the laboratory for standards of accreditation and tracks proficiency testing results.
• Collaborates with the Pathologists on a daily basis to maintain a time flow of accurately prepared specimens for their diagnostic determinations. Thereby providing timely reports to providers and patients.
• Maintains accessibility to testing personnel at all times testing is performed to provide on-site telephone or electronic consultation to resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Develops and maintains budgets and supplies for department functions

What Youll Need

Education:Bachelors degree in Medical Technology Biology Science or related field OR an equivalent combination of experience and education required.

Experience:Minimum of six (6) years experience in an accredited laboratory required. Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Certification/Licensure:Certification as an MT or MLS from ASCP required. Specialty certification in Chemistry preferred.
