Principal Duties and Responsibilities:The Regional Anaesthesia-TIVA Fellowship is a one-year clinical post based at Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) and the Reeves Day Surgery Centre located in the south-west of Dublin City. TUH is a major academic teaching hospital with 12 operating theatres and an additional 4 theatres located at the Reeves Day Surgery Centre. The hospital maintains a well-established academic affiliation with Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and is recognised nationally for excellence in medical education research and clinical training.The appointed Fellow will be afforded the opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in:- The acquisition of both technical and non-technical competencies necessary to safely and effectively conduct upper and lower limb neuraxial and truncal surgical procedures under regional anaesthesia procedures in a busy academic teaching hospital..
- Participation in audit research and quality improvement initiatives pertaining to regional anaesthesia practice through protected non-clinical time.
- Advancing Clinical Practice to provide updated evidence-based guidance on TIVA.
- Standardisation of techniques to promote consistent safe and effective use of TIVA.
- Bridging Knowledge Gaps to address common misconceptions technical challenges andvariability in practice especially for clinicians transitioning from inhalational to intravenousanaesthesia
Eligibility Criteria and QualificationsEssential:- Fellowship of the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (FCAI) or an equivalent qualification.
Desirable:- Preferable (but not essential) to be registered in the Specialist Register of Anaesthesia maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland.
