Job Summary:
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
Lab Management & Equipment Maintenance
- Oversee daily operations of the mechanical engineering lab.
- Ensure all lab equipment is properly maintained calibrated and documented.
- Schedule and perform routine calibration of measurement instruments from 3rd party vendors.
- Maintain inventory of lab tools consumables and spare parts.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and lab standards.
- Use and maintenance of 3D scanner for reverse engineering
3D Printing
- Operate and maintain FDM 3D printers for prototyping and low-volume production.
- Design and optimize 3D models for additive manufacturing usingCreo.
- Select appropriate materials based on mechanical thermal and chemical properties of engineering plastics.
- Collaborate with design R&D and manufacturing teams to integrate AM solutions into product development.
- Troubleshoot print failures and perform routine maintenance on AM equipment.
- Perform 3D scanning of parts for reverse engineering.
- Document process parameters material usage and print outcomes for continuous improvement.
- Handle all the documentation work for import of 3D printing material and export of 3D printed parts.
- Handle the shipment requirements for exporting all the 3D printed parts.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in additive manufacturing.
Must Have:
- Proficiency in Creo with parametric modelling is a must
- Hands-on experience in operating 3D printing technology printers
- Experience with metrology tools like gauges vernier calipers etc.
Good to Have:
- Previous experience of maintaining Mechanical Engineering lab.
- Exposure to other 3D printing technologies (SLA SLS etc.) is a plus.
- Experience with post-processing techniques (support removal surface finishing).
- Familiarity with slicing software (e.g. Cura PrusaSlicer Simplify3D).
- Familiarity with use of 3D scanners
- Knowledge of design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) principles.
Qualifications:
- Diploma/Bachelors degree in Mechanical or any relevant Engineering branch.
- 12 years of experience in 3D printing specificallyFDM technology (preferred).
- Knowledge of metrology instruments used in Mechanical Engineering labs.
- Basic knowledge ofengineering plasticssuch as ABS PLA Nylon PETG etc.
- Proficiency inCreofor 3D modeling and design optimization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
