The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water managing wastewater and stormwater and reducing air noise and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country with nearly 6000 employees. DEPs water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the systems 2000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.
The Bureau of Business Information Technology (BIT) is responsible for providing quality business technical and IT system support to our users. This commitment is realized through collaboration strong relationships and a unified vision with our partners at DEP in order to provide quality technological solutions to our business needs. Providing these services allows us to ensure that DEP continues its tradition of delivering excellent service to the residents of New York City. Responsibilities include:
-Collaborate with the development team to design develop and test application features.
-Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
-Self-learn new technologies and programming languages if needed in order to accomplish assigned tasks
-Take initiative to propose improvements and new features
In addition the summer intern will develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony.

Qualifications :
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college university or law school.
