Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Survey Manager / Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead land surveying operations for civil transportation DOT and municipal projects. This leadership role oversees multiple field crews ensures high-quality project delivery and supports business growth within a stable employee-owned engineering firm offering top-tier benefits.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and supervise multiple survey field crews and office technicians
Oversee DOT and municipal roadway utility and transportation surveys
Ensure QA/QC project schedules budgets and client satisfaction
Coordinate with VDOT and local municipalities
Support proposals client development and regional growth
Mentor and develop staff through coaching and performance planning

Required Qualifications

Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
12 years of land surveying experience including 5 years in management
Strong background in DOT and municipal civil projects
Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation / OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D
In-depth knowledge of federal state and local surveying regulations
High school diploma required; Bachelors in Surveying or Civil Engineering preferred

Preferred Skills

Subsurface utility locating (SUE)
LiDAR aerial mapping or sUAS (drone) experience
