The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing delegated clinical and administrative functions in the care of patients under the direct supervision of a provider and Practice Manager.
- Participate in patient care in person via telephone and telehealth under provider supervision.
- Administer prescribed medications treatments immunizations and perform point-of-care testing.
- Collect and screen patient history and health-related information; communicate findings to providers.
- Document care activities accurately in the medical record.
- Assist with pre-visit preparation including coordinating testing and patient outreach.
- Perform administrative duties such as medical records and patient service tasks as needed.
- Mentor and train new staff as directed.
- Attend ongoing education programs and maintain annual competencies.
- Adhere to safety infection control HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines.
- Maintain current certifications including Basic Life Support.
Who You Are / Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Preferred: Associates Degree.
- Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- Preferred: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA AAMA) or ABR-OE.
- Previous experience in a patient-facing role required.
- 3 years of experience required without completion of a Medical Assistant program.
- Preferred: One year experience in a medical practice or healthcare setting; direct patient care experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology office workflow EMR systems and Windows-based applications.
- Skilled in standard precautions confidentiality interpersonal communication and time management.
- Ability to multitask adapt to changing environments and work as part of a team.
