Our Direct Support Professional staff work as part of a team in a group home setting supporting residents with household tasks such as meal planning and preparation laundry and light housework as well as assisting with personal care as terms of work locations listed above you will have the option of expressing your preferred locations at time of interview.
*To be eligible for the credential staff must complete all the listed trainings below.
Responsibilities
Day-to-day responsibilities may include cooking cleaning shopping meal preparation laundry etc. Will also assist individuals living in the residence with eating getting in and out of wheelchair bathing etc. as needed.
Training Components:
The enhanced training program will include the following key components:
- SCIP-R (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention-Revised)
- Introduction to Behavior Support Plans
- Introduction to Mental Health
- Abuse Prevention
- Challenging Behavior
- Five More Things You Can Do
- Hands-on Behavior Support Plan Implementation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Successful candidates will have demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team strong written and oral communications skills and a commitment to furthering human interdependence.
- Candidates must meet approved driver criteria in accordance with organizational policy.
- In order to be an approved driver at Racker you must currently have a valid drivers license for at least 1 year with a clean record OR a valid drivers license for 3 years and no more than 4 points on your license.
Quarterly Training:
To ensure that staff remain proficient and up-to-date with the latest practices this position will receive quarterly training sessions. These sessions will include trainings that provide the Direct Support Professionals with increased knowledge to support them with supporting challenging behaviors.
