NRDC is seeking aProjectManagertowork with theInternational Departmentteam in either DC or NYCofficesto support ourAfrica Initiative.

Position Summary

NRDC isseekingaProjectManager Africa Initiativetohelpadvance the International Departments geographic expansion into the Africancontinent.Thepositionwillwork in close collaboration withvariousNRDCteamsbasedin the U.S.andinIndiaandwithpartners in Africaforthe execution ofnewprojectswith partners in Africafocused oni)Strengthening communities and ecosystems resilience to climate change;ii)Expandingaccess to clean energy solutions and the benefits of clean energy supply chainsin the context of just energy transitions; andiii)Increasingfinancial investments in clean energy nature-basedsolutions and resilience.The position willsupportoverallproject management including budget managementcoordinating withvariousteamswithin the US and Internationalprogramstrackingprogressondeliveryof project-levelobjectivesand key results. The position will alsohelp with internal and external communications and support organizationof key events and convenings.

The position will report to NRDCs Associate Director Emerging Solutions and Global Partnership in the India Division of the International Department.This is a term limited position for 3 years withtheoptionto extend depending on funding.

Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Leadinternal coordinationandsupport overallproject managementacrossthe AfricaInitiatives threefocus areasto helpensureprojectmeetsmilestones and key deadlines.
  • Facilitatethecommunication collaboration andinformation sharingacross project teams including bymaintainingcentralizedresources databasesandassetsto support knowledgemanagementand coordination.
  • Build andmaintaincollaboration and project management tools tosupport coordination across teams and geographies.
  • Organize regular(monthly) project managementcallswith projectteamsstaffandas neededpartners andconsultants in Africa.
  • Supportbudgettracking andmanagementfor Africa Initiativeto ensuretimelyspenddown ofgrants budget forecastingandaccuratereporting.
  • Support contracting and invoicing processand vendor management.

Internal and external communications

  • Collaborate withtheInternational CommunicationsStrategisttocollateinternal and external communicationsthatdemonstratework and progress toward project goals.
  • Act asliaisonbetween project team and NRDC Development staff to support preparation of fundraising materials (proposals grant reports and other communications).
  • Identifykey materials that may be candidates for translation from English to French or vice versa; and translate or work with external translators as needed.

Events and convenings

  • Supportprojectleadsas theymanagetheorganization and execution ofkey events roundtablesandconvenings.
  • Collaborate with project leadsas theydocumentoutputs and impactsof key activitiestoensure consistencyacross teamsand timeliness which willsupportthedelivery ofNRDCsoverall projectobjectives.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to NRDCs missions and values.
  • Bachelors or higherin environmentalstudies international development public policy or project management.
  • 2-3years experiencein supporting implementation of projectsin Sub-Saharan Africa especially West Africa with on the ground experience preferred.
  • Preferred3years experience workinginrelevantfields of clean energy accessand solutions ecosystems resilienceenergy transition mineral supply chains and/or mobilizing financing for climate investment.
  • Proven experiencewith project management ofmultipleprojects across various geographies andissues andinteracting with various internal and external stakeholders and partners.
  • Experience working with project management tools (e.g.Asana).
  • Fluency in speakingwritingand readingbothEnglish andFrench (Frenchnative speaker preferred)
  • Ability to travel internationally (approximatelyone-twotrips per year)
  • Ability to take initiativework both independently and collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and organization skills

NRDC operates under a hybrid work model. Employeesare required tocome to the office 8 days per month.
