Job Summary
The Program Assistant Director is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive Informal Recreation Program managing large scale facility reservations and special events and supervising all staff that provide direct services previously mentioned.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Organize schedule and supervise daily operations of the Maverick Activity Center the Physical Education Building (while operational) and Campus Recreation Fields Complex. Hire train and supervise student facility staff of over 120 employees responsible for daily informal recreation activity special event setup/management/breakdown and the safety of over 4000 daily visitors. Supervise facility usage with both on and off campus groups during special events and facility reservations. Develop and maintain policy and prioritization procedures for managing reservations especially during peak seasons while also preserving informal recreation access for UTA students and Campus Recreation members. Inspect and monitor facility cleanliness and safety by ensuring that equipment is working properly and safe to use. Stay current with best practices related to safety regulations and protocols. Ensure these safety regulations are being adhered to by all team members. Review and revise departmental policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Physical Education Recreation Leisure Studies or related field. Two (2) years of experience in Recreational Sports or related field required. Experience must include student employee supervision procedure and policy development and implementation and familiarity with sports/gym equipment and trends.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree in Recreation Leisure Studies or related field. Professional involvement with NIRSA . CPR teacher certification
Work Schedule
Monday-Friday; 8:00 am 5:00 pm Adjusted as needed when special events or other circumstances require direct supervision. Occasional travel irregular work hours occasional exposure to outdoors and weather elements.
