Lynas Rare Earths is excited to open our Apprentice opportunities for the Mechanical discipline at our Kalgoorlie Rare Earth Processing Facility (REPF).

Our Kalgoorlie REPF is a brand-new state of the art facility utilising the latest technologies and equipment to produce mixed rare earth concentrate for further processing and separation. Lynas is a market leader in in a highly sort after commodity that is increasingly required for newer technologies.

The Opportunity:

Were looking for a safety focused and positively motivated apprentice to join our Mechanical Maintenance team who will work alongside experienced technicians on site to gain exposure and knowledge across a variety of mechanical equipment and acquiring the skills and knowledge around systems processes and standards allowing for a well-rounded apprentice to have a successful and enduring career.

• This is a full-time four-year fixed term Apprenticeship.
• This Apprenticeship is being offered on a 5/2/4/3 10-hour dayshift roster Kalgoorlie residential.
• You will play a pivotal role to help ensure safe and efficient operation of our brand-new plant.

You will be responsible for:

Mechanical Apprentices will be required to develop and hone skills through training and mentoring to be able to carry out mechanical work and support maintaining the plants performance and integrity required by Kalgoorlie Operations.

Mechanical apprentices will be required to:

• Participate and contribute to all activities as valued maintenance team member
• Successfully complete required Trade studies as per the formal Training Plan
• Assisting the maintenance department to provide support to the operations
• Identifying any safety hazards or risks to ensure a safe working environment is maintained for all
• Share ideas for improvements
• Ensuring good housekeeping practices
• Contribute to detailed reports during routine maintenance tasks and unplanned maintenance events
• Participate in Incident Investigations to learn new skills

What we are looking for:

• A genuine interest in the Mechanical trade
• Someone who is keen enthusiastic and ready to learn
• Enjoyment for hands-on work with good problem-solving skills
• Mechanical aptitude beneficial
• Good communication abilities whilst working within a diverse team
• Basic level of computer skills
• A positive and safety-focused demeanour
• Commitment to completing a 4-year trade apprenticeship
• Successful completion of year 12 (higher level preferred)
• Completion of a Cert II in chosen discipline highly regarded
• Full Australian Working Rights
• A current Australian drivers licence (or working towards obtaining one)
• Must reside within the Goldfields
