Job Summary

A well-established and ambitious 1118 secondary school in the Derby area is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Teacher of History to join its thriving Humanities department. This role offers the chance to teach History in a school that values academic rigour strong classroom practice and a supportive professional culture.

The Role

You will teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4 with the opportunity to teach A-Level depending on experience. The History curriculum is carefully sequenced to build strong chronological understanding alongside key historical concepts such as causation consequence change and interpretation.

Lessons are discussion-rich and enquiry-led with a strong focus on source analysis and extended writing. Students are encouraged to think critically debate ideas confidently and develop well-evidenced arguments. Shared schemes of work and assessments ensure consistency across classes while still allowing teachers the freedom to bring topics to life in their own way.

History is a popular subject at GCSE with strong uptake and positive outcomes and the department regularly reviews curriculum content to keep it engaging and relevant.

The Department

The Humanities faculty is collaborative well-led and supportive. History teachers work closely together sharing resources moderating work and reflecting on practice.
