At Wombats we dont just run hostels - our mission is to create places that inspire people. We believe we can achieve this by fostering an open-minded and empathic atmosphere where everyone is welcomed respected and valued.
We take pride in providing our guests with great service high quality and a safe and clean environment but we want to go beyond that: By inviting everyone to become part of our community staff and guests alike we want to share our passion for travelling and create new bonds between people from around the world.
Core tasks
Embodying the core values of Wombats and a passion for hosting
Acting as the leading figure for the hostel teams Reception Housekeeping Maintenance Security through presence and providing purpose and feedback; indirect leadership of teams through department heads direct leadership of department heads
Promoting personal and professional development of their teams
Providing support to and promoting good cooperation with the F&B department
Managing administration and human resources for their teams and the F&B teams
Monitoring and managing finances and costs (except for F&B and events)
Ensuring the building and all relevant appliances are well maintained at all times
Monitoring quality standards and overseeing reputation management
Ensuring compliance with health- and safety regulations
Driving continuous development in cooperation with Head Office
Required competences
Hosting mindset Incorporating Wombats values into operational work
Leadership Inspiring and leading a diverse team fostering cooperation
Communication Communicating effectively to provide clarity and orientation
Empathy Understand and appropriately respond to needs of guests and staff
Financial expertise Proficiency in budget management and financial reporting
Decision-Making Quickly identify issues and make well-informed decisions
Organisational skills Prioritise and delegate tasks and responsibility efficiently
Technical competence Understanding technical issues and digital tools
Advanced knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements
Flexibility to adapt to situations and implement changes effectively
Excellent skills in English (in speaking and writing)
Our offer
A gross salary of 51000 GBP per year. Willingness to offer above-market compensation depending on qualifications and experience
