Max Incorporated Rate: $60.80
Max T4 Rate: $50.25/ 4% vacation pay stat
General Description
The E2 Engineer performs supervised engineering tasks of limited scope and complexity using established procedures and standard engineering techniques. The role supports BC Hydro projects and operations by contributing to safe high-quality cost-effective and timely engineering outcomes.
This position focuses on equipment maintenance and commissioning support including the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation and power system equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform supervised engineering activities in support of equipment maintenance and commissioning programs.
Contribute to the development of safe engineering solutions through studies of limited scope using prescribed methods and techniques.
Assist with specific aspects of more complex engineering activities by applying established analysis design and computation methods under close supervision.
Work under the guidance of a senior professional engineer who reviews work for accuracy adequacy and compliance with prescribed procedures.
Participate in BC Hydros engineering practice by applying standards following detailed instructions and exercising judgment in routine technical decisions.
Independently perform periodic tasks including on-site construction quality control and monitoring to verify compliance with approved designs.
Read and interpret engineering drawings manuals and technical documentation to understand system operation failure modes and preventive maintenance requirements.
Coordinate with engineering subject matter experts field personnel and regulatory compliance teams to support maintenance program development and implementation.
Support the preparation of maintenance procedures instructions record forms and spare parts recommendations.
Ensure all work is delivered safely with quality within budget and on schedule.
Work Assignment Requirements
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation equipment including:
Maintenance procedures and instructions
Record forms and documentation
Spare parts identification to sustain equipment operation
Apply engineering principles to the operation maintenance and remediation of equipment and system failures.
Support maintenance and/or commissioning activities for electrical assets including:
Generator exciters
DC power supply systems (batteries chargers)
Medium- and low-voltage AC equipment (transformers circuit breakers disconnect switches surge arresters switchgear distribution panels)
Control and monitoring components
Electrical protection components
Required Qualifications & Experience
Minimum two (2) years of engineering experience in equipment maintenance and/or commissioning or equivalent.
Experience in power utilities oil and gas or heavy industrial environments.
Registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or registered/eligible in another jurisdiction.
Ability to work under BC Hydros Professional Practice Management Plan and Quality Management Pillar.
Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively when managing multiple competing assignments.
Strong decision-making and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to work in a hybrid environment and attend the office as required.
Education
Technical Skills
Familiarity with CAD systems and engineering drawing standards.
Ability to use standard industry design and analysis software.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint).
Intermediate English proficiency for professional written and verbal communication.
Nice to Have
Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering and field teams.
Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM).
Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
