About theRole

This role is a technical expert position and will provide financial advice and guidance across Council while overseeing statutory reporting core financial controls and compliance requirements. The role delivers budgeting forecasting and strategic financial insights to support organisational decisionmaking while driving improvements in systems processes and financial governance.

You will:

  • Lead Councils statutory and technical financial reporting ensuring compliance with accounting standards legislative requirements and audit obligations.
  • Provide expert financial advice budgeting support and strategic insights to guide organisational decisionmaking including preparation of budgets forecasts and management reporting.
  • Oversee core financial controls and compliance including balance sheet reconciliations taxation obligations asset register management and yearend accounting processes.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting or commerce (or equivalent).
  • Post-graduate professional qualifications (e.g. CA/CPA).
  • Significant experience providing financial advice solving complex problems and engaging stakeholders with strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Strong technical understanding of accounting standards with the ability to interpret and apply regulatory and policy frameworks.
  • Proficiency in financial management and strategic accounting including business partnering time and project management and confident use of Microsoft applications.
