Your role and responsibilities

In this role you will support adults who need help providing the financial information required to determine their contribution toward care charges. You will assist people who may struggle to manage the process independently and who have no one else to support them.

You will be responsible for:

  • Communicating with adults and their carers by phone at surgeries and occasionally through home or carehome visits ensuring a supportive personcentred approach at all times.
  • Helping adults and carers complete financial assessments offering clear guidance to support their understanding of the carecharging process.
  • Providing advice and practical support on welfare benefits and grants explaining entitlements guiding people through claims and assisting with applications where required.
  • Working closely with the Adult Social Care Personal Finance Team to ensure the needs of adults whose finances we manage are accurately understood and appropriately met.

You will need

  • a genuine enthusiasm for working with people and the ability to communicate clearly confidently and with empathy.
  • a flexible adaptable approach ready to respond to the changing needs of the service.
  • an interest in learning about the welfare benefits system - previous knowledge is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

The team

Our team works within Suffolk County Councils hybrid model with colleagues spending two days each week working outside of their homes. Every four weeks we come together for a dedicated team day at our Ipswich office. These inperson sessions give us valuable time to share best practice learn from one anothers experiences and collaborate closely with colleagues across the wider Financial Inclusion and Advice Service and Adult Social Care.

A central focus of our work is income maximisation - ensuring that adults in Suffolk are receiving all the benefits and financial support they are entitled to. The team is committed to delivering highquality personcentred advice and assistance helping people to navigate complex systems with confidence and clarity
