About the role

The Food Waste Supervisor is a crucial role in the successful delivery of an exemplary borough wide day to day recycling and waste service taking a leading role in representing the Council in an effective and professional manner.

The Food Waste Supervisor will ensure that the service standards are set to be delivered above accepted industry standards ensuring that these align with the Councils corporate objectives and aim to be one of the highest performing Councils in the UK.

The Food Waste Supervisor play a key role in the co-ordination planning and management of the day-to-day food waste collection service. Ensuring that enabling Chargehand roles have the support information and tools required to further support the delivering frontline Driver & Operatives.

The Food Waste Supervisor will directly manage a team of drivers and operatives with professionalism and operational drive lead by example and be responsible for the safe operation of all associated vehicles plant and equipment required to execute the day-to-day waste and recycling service.

The Food Waste Supervisor will ensure that a high level of customer focus and service is at the forefront of the delivery of the recycling and waste service.

About you

You must have experience working in a supervisory or operational role assisting with delivering recycling and waste services.

Experience of leading a team customer communications experience and a comprehensive understanding of waste collections are required.

You should have the ability to quickly form good working relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences and be proficient in the use of MS Word Excel and Powerpoint.

You should have the ability to attend work on-site in order to be accessible and on hand to provide support to team members as needed.

Street Scene is the one service that reaches every resident of the borough. We are committed to delivering a high quality value for money service to all residents and businesses in the borough. We are responsible for Recycling & Waste and Garden Waste collections from domestic properties Street Cleansing across the borough our Grounds Maintenance service who maintain our many parks and

green spaces our Commercial Waste team provide services to many businesses in the borough Passenger Transport where we provide a school transport service to children and vulnerable adults and our Fleet department who maintain all of the councils vehicles from large waste collection vehicles to small vans.
