F.A.T. Technician (Factory Acceptance Testing)

Pay Rate: $27XX $30XX

Location: Mobile AL 36605

Duration: 1 year
Shift: Monday Friday 12-hour shifts; weekends as needed

Position Overview

The F.A.T. Technician is responsible for performing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and verification testing to support the completion of OSS Umbilicals and related products. This role requires strong technical expertise across fiber optics electrical testing and high-pressure hydraulic systems with a strong focus on quality safety and accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Perform Fiber Optic Testing and Fusion Splicing (Outside Plant certified experience required)
- OTDR testing through fusion splices
Perform Low Voltage (up to 1000V) and Medium Voltage (6000V) Cable Testing including:
- Conductor resistance
- Insulation resistance
- Crosstalk / attenuation
- Impedance
- Resistance and high-potential testing
Measure resistance continuity and voltage using appropriate test equipment
Perform and assist with Hydrostatic Pressure Testing of SDSS Umbilicals and related products
- Pressure range: PSI
Set up specialized test equipment conduct leak checks and verify test completion
Operate and perform basic maintenance on high-pressure water jet systems and Hydratron pumps
Set up and manage digital pressure test recording systems including:
- CompactRIO
- NI equipment
- Pressure transducers
Accurately record all test data using correct digital documentation methods
Troubleshoot product and test equipment issues
Read and interpret electrical fiber optic and hydraulic schematics
Demonstrate knowledge of pumps manifolds fittings pressure ratings and proper engagement
Interpret test data (plots graphs and tables) to determine pass/fail conditions
Identify document and support resolution of Non-Conformance Records (NCRs)
Monitor and report tool status
Maintain a clean organized work area to assembly-level cleanliness standards
Communicate clearly regarding production status completed tasks shift handoffs and improvement ideas
Follow all safety policies including PPE requirements and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience & Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
Previous experience directly aligned with this role
Hands-on pressure testing experience between 5000 PSI and 25000 PSI
Strong fiber experience focused on fusion splicing and OTDR testing
Experience testing low-voltage cable cores
Ability to work extended shifts and weekends as needed
Must be a local candidate or able to work locally in the Mobile area
