Network Systems Delivery
• Lead the end-to-end installation termination testing and certification of UTP FOC (single- and multi-core) and structured LAN cabling in line with TIA/ISO standards and venue requirements.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on existing cabling systems to ensure network availability and adherence to defined SLAs.
• Use appropriate test and measurement tools (e.g. OTDR power meter Fluke testers) and document results for acceptance handover and audit purposes.
• Conduct detailed site surveys and prepare accurate reports BOQs and material lists for new installations upgrades and maintenance activities.
• Manage and reconcile inventory of passive network components ensuring timely availability of cables patch panels termination kits and accessories for planned works.
• Design and implement structured cabling overlays for events (e.g. sports events and temporary venues) ensuring clear segregation between base-build and overlay networks.
• Coordinate closely with the active network team for rack layout patching plans labeling schemes and IDF/MDF readiness to support project timelines.
• Prepare update and maintain network drawings (AutoCAD/Visio or equivalent) and patching matrices ensuring they reflect the as-built environment and follow change control procedures.
• Perform patching dressing and rack mounting of active devices maintain patch cord hygiene and provide L1 remote support (remote hands) for basic troubleshooting and change implementation as guided by Network Engineers.
• Ensure all works comply with HSE/permit-to-work requirements and site regulations maintaining a clean safe and professional working environment at all times.
Communication/Documentation
• Prepare clear and accurate technical documentation including site survey reports test reports as-built drawings patching matrices and handover packs.
• Document incident details root causes and corrective actions supporting continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Communicate technical issues and work status effectively to internal teams (Network Engineers Project Managers Service Desk) and non-technical stakeholders (end users venue operations contractors).
• Provide accurate material estimates cable run details and resource requirements to support planning budgeting and procurement activities.
• Maintain up-to-date records in ticketing / work-order systems ensuring all jobs are properly logged updated and closed with relevant notes and attachments.
Problem Solving Skills
• Lead the diagnosis and resolution of complex passive network issues (cable faults patching errors fiber breaks performance degradation) using advanced test equipment and proven troubleshooting methodologies.
• Analyse recurring or systemic faults identify root causes (design installation material or operational issues) and recommend practical long-term corrective actions.
• Suggest and help implement improved tools labelling standards testing procedures and documentation practices to increase reliability and reduce incident frequency.
• Provide on-site technical leadership during high-impact incidents or major events coordinating with Network Engineers vendors and operations teams to restore services within agreed SLAs.
• Proactively identify potential risks (cable damage rack congestion poor patching hygiene) and raise improvement proposals to enhance network stability and maintainability.
• 10 years of overall experience in IT infrastructure / network support with strong exposure to structured cabling campus LAN and data center environments.
• Minimum 3–5 years in a Senior Network Technician or equivalent role handling field teams subcontractors and multiple parallel work orders.
Education:
• Diploma in Computer Science Electronics & Communication Electrical Telecommunications or a related discipline is mandatory.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology (Computer Science Electronics & Communication or related field) is preferred but not mandatory.
• Industry certifications in networking such as CCNA / HCIA / CompTIA Network or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Structured cabling–related certifications (e.g. BICSI Installer / Technician manufacturer certifications such as CommScope Nexans Leviton etc. or FOA CFOT) are a strong plus.
• Strong expertise in passive cabling technologies including UTP STP and fiber optic cabling (single- and multi-core) patch panels LIUs and structured LAN cabling systems.
• Ability to design interpret and review cabling layouts rack elevations and event overlay cabling plans in coordination with Network Engineers and project teams.
