Position Summary:
We are excited to announce a position opening for a full-time physician scientist in the Division of Neurology at Nemours Childrens Health in Wilmington DE.

We seek a physicianscientist who will establish and sustain a productive extramurally-funded research program while maintaining an active clinical practice. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative Neuroscience Research Center within the Division of Neurology contribute to education and mentorship and advance discoveries that meaningfully improve patient outcomes. He or she will maintain a clinical practice in Pediatric Neurology or a subspecialty contributing to the care of patients with complex or unmet medical need. The successful candidate will also conduct translational clinical or basic science research aligned with institutional priorities. He or she should be a skilled team builder an effective teacher and an outstanding clinician with both excellent communication and interpersonal skills and relevant clinical expertise. He or she will have subspecialty training in a relevant area of neurology.

The position reports to the Division Chief of Neurology and the successful candidate will be part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team within the Department of Pediatrics.

The Division provides inpatient and outpatient clinical services at locations in Delaware Pennsylvania New Jersey and Maryland. A faculty appointment consistent with the level of academic achievement will be provided at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and/or the University of levels of experience including recent fellowship graduates who are board-eligible will be considered. Qualified candidates will have experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team and with medically complex conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as attending physician during designated weeks and participate in on-call coverage as part of the service team

  • Conduct regular specialty clinics in addition to a share in general neurology clinics

  • Teach and mentor residents and medical students with emphasis on your specialty area

  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to research activities

  • Plan and oversee projects in basic/translational research including collaborations with our clinical and basic science researchers.

  • Development and leadership of an independent research program with national or international impact supported by intramural and extramural funding (e.g.- Nemours Foundation and NIH disease foundations philanthropy)

  • Disseminate findings through high impact peerreviewed publications and presentations at national and international scientific meetings

  • Supervise the maintenance safety and running of the laboratory and assure it is in regulatory compliance.

  • Mentor and train laboratory technicians graduate medical and undergraduate students residents and postdoctoral fellows

Qualifications:

  • MD DO or equivalent clinical doctoral degree from an accredited medical school with research training. MD/PhD preferred.

  • Completion of an ACGME Accredited Pediatric Residency Program and a Neurology Fellowship Program

  • Board Certification in Pediatric Medicine and Board Eligibility/ Certification in Neurology

  • Eligibility to obtain valid DEA and Medical licensure in the state of Delaware

  • An academic record commensurate with appointment at the rank of Assistant Associate or full Professor
