Introduction:
You will provide support to the Organisation in matters of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) for occupational Health & Safety. This includes requirements for the design of air management systems performing on-site workplace assessments and leading air quality studies for specific projects.
Functions:
- Provide technical and safety requirements for the design and retrofit of ventilation and filtration systems.
- Conduct on-site workplace air quality assessments measuring different indoor pollutants analysing the results and proposing solutions.
- Investigate incidents related to air quality perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead complex Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) studies for high-risk and/or high-complexity projects.
- Perform ventilation / filtration rate calculations and airflow modelling.
- Develop IAQ guidelines procedures best practices and other engineering solutions for the Organisation.
- Act as Safety correspondent and become the single point of contact in matters of safety for some CERN-specific projects.
Qualifications :
Masters degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering or Environment and Building Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
- Strong background in nuclear ventilation and ISO 17873 standard.
- Strong background on modelling the spread of pollutants in indoor environments.
- Experience with IAQ sensors and performing on-site measurements is desirable.
- Profound knowledge in Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Ventilation Standards.
- Knowledge in designing HVAC or air management systems for tertiary and industrial facilities.
- Familiarity with Python programming language and CFD tools is desirable.
Technical competencies:
- HVAC process design and analysis.
- Occupational safety and risk management.
- Knowledge and application of numerical modelling in fluid mechanics and/or heat transfer.
Behavioural competencies:
- Working in Teams: building and maintaining constructive and effective work relationships.
- Communicating Effectively: demonstrating a pro-active approach to resolving differences; addressing issues of conflict constructively.
- Managing Self: demonstrating a receptive approach to feedback; being open to criticism and reconsidering position accordingly.
- Solving Problems: seeking and integrating other points of view when tackling an issue; consulting experts in the field and undertaking benchmarking.
Language skills:
Spoken and written English with a commitment to learn French.
