The Engineering Intern is responsible for supporting programmingfocused engineering work including automation logic development and handson engineering challenges. This role offers deeper exposure to PLC work and small machine development.

This position reports to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering and is part of the Manufacturing Engineering team located in Cortland NY and will be an onsite role.

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn how automation projects move from idea to reality.
  • Gain practical experience with Universal Robots (UR) Collaborative Robots PLCs and industrial electrical systems.
  • Learn how automatic data collection works in a production environment including using SCADA systems to view equipment status trends and process data.
  • Work closely with the team on small PLC programming projects.
  • Help program and prepare small machines for production release.
  • Shadow a Lean Conversion (LC) or Standard Work (SW) event to learn core productivity tools.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Students pursuing a bachelors degree in one of the following (or similar) fields:
    • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Power Systems Engineering
    • Robotics Engineering
    • Any related engineering or technical discipline

Travel Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements if applicable for role:

  • Ability to walk the site perform inspections and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing setting with appropriate PPE provided.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced standing in an engineering or technology program (junior/senior recommended).
  • Strong interest in programming automation or controls engineering.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D or similar drafting tools.
  • Experience with PLC programming using Ladder Logic and/or Structured Text.
  • Willingness to be handson in a production environment and observe processes directly.
  • Solid problemsolving and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.

The hourly rate for this role is$20 per hour.This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
