Job Title: Archive Researcher and Writer
Classification: Institutional Support
Reports To: Librarian
Location: Al Jahra Kuwait
Job Purpose
Support the Librarys mission to preserve organize and promote the universitys archival collections. This position blends historical research writing and storytelling to make AIUs archives accessible and engaging for students faculty and the community while ensuring proper documentation and continuous improvement of archival services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and accurately interpret archival materials to support university documentation and publications.
- Produce clear engaging written content such as descriptions guides and blogs that enhance visibility and understanding of AIUs archives.
- Maintain and organize archival collections ensuring accessibility and compliance with professional standards.
- Collaborate with cataloging and digital teams to ensure metadata accuracy and online discoverability.
- Support exhibitions instructional sessions and outreach events that promote the archives.
- Provide research assistance and guidance to students faculty and external researchers.
- Contribute to workflow improvements record accuracy and the overall quality of archival operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong research analytical and writing skills with the ability to produce engaging content.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with digital archiving tools or databases.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; able to manage multiple projects efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in historical and metadata work.
- Ability to read Arabic and write fluently in English.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in archival and research processes.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in History English-language Literature or a related field in the Humanities or Social Sciences (required).
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant research writing or archival experience.
- Experience working in libraries museums or academic settings preferred.
- Familiarity with cataloging metadata or archival description standards desirable.
