About the program
Oakwood School provides a supported and flexible learning environment for young people who havent thrived in mainstream education. As part of the headspace School Services team youll partner with educators families and community services to create pathways that help students feel safe connected and ready to learn.
Your role your impact
In this role youll empower young people to strengthen their mental health reconnect with learning and build confidence. Youll play a key role in supporting students whove experienced significant challenges ensuring they have access to compassionate evidence-informed care.
You will be responsible for:
- Providing vital clinical support within a dynamic school environment delivering evidence-based interventions to young people experiencing a range of mental health and psychosocial challenges
- Conducting comprehensive assessments including HEADSS Mental State Examinations and risk assessments to determine the needs and suitability of young people for headspace services
- Delivering short to medium term evidence-based interventions
- Coordinating care with internal and external stakeholders
- Engaging families and carers in treatment planning
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
- Contribute actively to the campus wellbeing team attend relevant meetings and present case formulations in clinical review and supervision sessions
About you
Youre someone who brings heart curiosity and a commitment to walking alongside young people as they reconnect with learning and community.
You have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification/s in Social Work Psychology Counselling or related field and registration (or eligibility for registration) with AASW PACFA AHPRA or ACA
- Significant experience supporting young people with complex mental health needs
- Ability to build trust and work collaboratively with young people families teachers GPs and community services
- Therapeutic skills across modalities such as CBT DBT ACT and mindfulness
- A strong understanding of trauma family systems and youth development
- Ability to manage competing priorities and seek support openly when needed
- Current drivers license
