This Strategy Director role is focused on key global clients and reinforces our teams role as a strategic partner to their brand & media teams in developing future-facing strategic guidance thought leadership and best practices for a diverse subset of local markets.

Role purpose

The Carat strategy team combines craft skills creative problem solving and a diverse range of experience to find and address the challenges that we believe hold our clients back from growing as profitably as they should.

All clients in our portfolio have a diverse geographic footprint combine both traditional and non-traditional growth markets and boast strong strategic talent that love collaborating on a wide range of projects.

The Strategy Director supports the Strategy Partner(s) and Senior Strategy Partner in their client village in developing brilliant cross-disciplinary solutions for key clients thereby elevating the role of media on the business agenda.

Concretely this means:

  • Helps elevate media and its creative use in improving the consumer experience within our clients wider business agenda
  • Works as a guide and support to central brand / media teams to infuse best-in-class strategic and media planning thinking in central guidance
  • Working hand-in-glove with strategy and planning teams in local markets to raise the floor on local market strategy media planning and implementation
  • Supports with the delivery of thought leadership to clients on key business marketing and media challenges and opportunities
  • Work closely with existing strategic talent on their accounts identifying opportunity for collaboration and project ownership and proactively supporting each other

Key Accountabilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Forging strong relationships with day-to-day global clients helping them deliver against their objectives
  • Being vocal and collaborative with clients (having an informed opinion) sharing insight into the changing media landscape and demonstrating Carats role within an integrated communication mix by developing quality media strategy
  • Helping to develop responses & guidance to strategic and campaign briefs from global clients to ensure best in class thinking & global consistency
  • Driving excellent and appropriate use of insights & planning tools (dentsus suite of Merkury tools) on client briefs to drive business-outcome-focussed planning across the media ecosystem
  • Leveraging econometrics business analytics and past campaign/competitive learnings to develop refine and deliver media implementation guidelines
  • Build a deep understanding of dentsus strengths products and product pipeline
  • Contributing to a thought leadership agenda for the client which combines the latest in media / marketing ideas with real-world commercial impact for the brand

Professional Skills Overall

You will have a strong proven track record of:

  • Working knowledge of media & communications planning processes as well as insight & planning tools
  • Understanding of the role of media in delivering business value combining both working knowledge of the key global platforms (i.e. Meta Amazon Google TikTok etc.) as well as the fundamentals of end-to-end communications planning
  • Audience data and analytics knowledge to create audience profiles and actionable media performance insights
  • Experience using first- second- and third-party sources to uncover meaningful trends and articulate actionable (audience) insight
  • Delivering strategic thinking with a strong ability to communicate (verbal & written) strategic recommendations and innovative ideas with clarity
  • Developing marketing and communications strategies for multi-market clients
  • Working with day-to-day clients to advise on the strategic direction of their communications and its ability to deliver business value
  • Local advanced market experience essential to build global solutions and advise markets successfully. Global experience is helpful (experience managing 15 markets);
  • Strong evidence of collaborative cross agency relationship management especially media and creative teams;
  • Knowledge of tech- and innovation-led brands would be beneficial
