Part-time Faculty Parent Education Northshore Cooperative Preschool
Lake Washington Institute of Technology Start Date: Fall Quarter 2026
Summary of Responsibilities: Part-Time instructor for parent education classes in conjunction with cooperative preschool lab for ages 0-5 years old. This session is held on Fridays 12:15pm to 2:15pm.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plan and implement the childrens curriculum for the preschool lab 1 class meeting on Fridays from 12:15-2:15
- Assume responsibility for set up/clean up of the preschooler lab environment
- Plan and implement parent responsibilities in the preschooler lab
- Plan Prepare and Teach evening and in class parent education sessions
- Attend and act as advisor to Boards monthly 2 hourevening meeting year round
- Plan and implement additional activities to fulfill 2 credit requirement per class
- Attend staff development meetings and in-services at the college
- Promote program at community events year round
- Be able to lift 40 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following: early childhood education family support or human development parent education or related field with extensive course work in such areas as child development
- 3 years min. teaching experience in early childhood education working with children
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent verbal listening and problem-solving skills
- Coursework in Early Childhood Education (or willingness to complete an Introduction to Early Childhood Education class within first year)
- CPR/First Aid Certification (be willing to obtain before first class)
Preferred Qualifications- Experience and/or education work in adult education (If the selected applicant does not have the necessary experience or training in adult ed. they must be willing to take specific course work at LWTech their first year of employment)
- 3 years recent parent education/cooperative preschool teaching
- Experience working with diverse families
- Prior participation through teaching or enrollment as a parent in a parent cooperative preschool affiliated with a community or technical college

Compensation
Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. The salary for part time faculty contracts shall be based upon the number of credits assigned the faculty member the type of class taught and the rates contained in the part time faculty salary schedule currently in effect and labeled Appendix B. A portion of the salary is paid by the college and a portion by the Board of Directors for Northshore Co-op; both are based on experience and education.
