The Role

The Quantitative Analyst will support the development of analytical tools strategic asset allocation models and investment frameworks tailored to insurance clients across multiple jurisdictions (e.g. Solvency II ICS).

The role combines technical modelling with commercial application.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong quantitative skills who is interested in the intersection of insurance balance sheet management investment strategy and assetliability optimisation.

The Team

The Insurance Solutions Team was established to leverage M&Gs dual heritage as both a major insurer and global asset manager. The team partners with insurers worldwide to design capitalefficient liabilityaware investment solutions that align with their regulatory accounting and balancesheet objectives.

We are seeking a Quantitative Analyst to deepen our analytical and modelling capabilities and help scale our global insurance platform.

Key Responsibilities:

Quantitative Modelling & Analytical Development

  • Build and enhance tools to extract clean and analyse data from insurance market and economic databases (via Python and API integrations).
  • Develop and maintain strategic asset allocation (SAA) models for insurers focused on return-on-capital optimisation solvency impact liquidity considerations and accounting outcomes.
  • Implement scenariobased models to assess capital efficiency risk sensitivities and asset-liability interactions across different regulatory frameworks.

Product Development & Solution Design

  • Assist in the creation of tailored investment solutions including capitalefficient credit private asset strategies matching adjustment portfolios and multiasset mandates.
  • Evaluate impact on Solvency II SCR economic capital and accounting (IFRS 9/17) to support client decision-making.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with the Insurance Sales team to respond to client requests RFPs and due diligence exercises.
  • Partner with the inhouse Investment Analytics and Technology teams to industrialise prototype models into scalable internal tools.
  • Become the teams specialist user of Ortec analytic software supporting portfolio analysis and risk modelling.

Research & Market Insight

  • Conduct research on regulatory developments insurance investment trends alternative asset classes and capitalefficient portfolio construction.
  • Support thought leadership initiatives and client publications where appropriate.


Key Knowledge Skills & Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in Python (required); experience with pandas NumPy SciPy Plotly and API integration preferred.
  • Familiarity with financial or economic modelling; insurance or ALM modelling experience a plus.
  • Understanding of investment risk metrics asset class characteristics and portfolio construction concepts.
  • Interest in insurance investing balance sheet management and regulatory capital frameworks
  • Experience in asset management insurance consulting or risk analytics is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Curious mindset with appetite to learn and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to prioritise and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working on diverse projects and adapting to evolving team priorities.

Candidates advancing to the later stages of the interview process should be prepared to complete a live Python coding exercise either in person or through a shared-screen session.
