The Opportunity
Reporting initially to the Chief People & Culture Officer this role plays a key part in bringing to life Tantalus strategic talent vision and the roadmap for how we attract engage and hire the people who power our growth. The overall talent direction and priorities are set at the Chief People & Culture Officer level and this role is accountable for operationalizing that direction through strong process design disciplined delivery and partnership across the business.
Once the function is fully established the role will transition to reporting to the Director People & Culture to ensure close integration with HR operations and business partnership.
This is a hands-on high-ownership role suited to someone who can translate strategy into execution operate effectively in a scaling environment and continuously improve how talent acquisition functions to make it faster smarter and more sustainable.

This is a hybrid role based in our Burnaby BC office.
Specifically the Talent Acquisition Manager will:
Full-Cycle Recruitment Execution
- Lead a high-volume portfolio of requisitions across all functions and regions balancing multiple stakeholders and competing priorities from intake through offer close and onboarding hand-off.
- Source screen and engage candidates directly owning pipelines for priority and repeat roles.
- Deliver a consistent high-quality candidate experience aligned with Tantalus values and ways of working.
- Own and continuously improve key hiring metrics including time-to-fill cost-per-hire and quality-of-hire.
- Provide quarterly talent acquisition insights and performance reporting to the Chief People & Culture Officer.
Sourcing Strategy and Vendor Management
- Own and evolve Tantalus sourcing strategy with a focus on reducing reliance on external recruitment agencies over time while maintaining hiring quality and speed.
- Segment roles based on market complexity urgency and repeatability to determine the most effective sourcing approach.
- Build and strengthen internal sourcing capability and direct candidate pipelines where in-house sourcing creates the greatest value.
- Pilot and scale new sourcing approaches continuously assessing impact on cost-per-hire time-to-fill and candidate quality..
- Assess the effectiveness of external recruitment vendors and partnerships.
Selectively engage agencies for roles where external support adds clear value due to specialization or market constraints. - Maintain a focused high-performing vendor ecosystem that complements internal recruiting and sourcing capabilities.
Hiring Leader Partnering and Enablement
- Partner with hiring leaders to define clear role success criteria and design effective outcome-based hiring approaches.
- Design build and standardize core hiring tools that strengthen assessment quality ensure consistency and support early productivity across roles.
- Develop and deliver structured hiring training that builds leader capability in disciplined unbiased hiring and sound decision-making.
- Ensure hiring tools and practices are embedded into day-to-day recruiting workflows and consistently applied by hiring leaders.
Co-op New Grad and Early-Career Programs
- Design and manage Tantalus co-op internship and new graduate programs.
- Build and sustain relationships with universities colleges and career centres.
- Represent Tantalus at career fairs campus events and industry networking opportunities.
- Ensure meaningful internal experiences appropriate structure and mentorship for early-career hires.
- Track outcomes such as conversion retention and engagement to continuously improve program effectiveness.
Recruitment Operations & Insights
- Maintain and operate existing talent acquisition scorecard and reporting ensuring recruiting data is accurate complete and up to date. Ensure required metrics and inputs are consistently captured across roles and stages.
- Establish and standardize core funnel metrics to leverage data for decision-making identify bottlenecks and continuously improve hiring speed quality and consistency.
- Identify gaps inconsistencies or data quality issues and proactively address them to maintain confidence in reporting.
- Use existing metrics and reporting to surface trends risks and operational insights for hiring managers and Chief People & Culture Officer.
What you Bring:
Education and Experience
- 57 years of progressive talent acquisition experience including full-cycle recruitment across multiple functions and levels.
- Demonstrated experience partnering directly with hiring leaders and influencing structured outcome-based hiring decisions.
- Experience contributing to or improving hiring processes tools or recruitment workflows in a growing or evolving organization.
- Strong sourcing capability including direct sourcing and management of external recruitment partners.
- Comfort working with recruitment data and funnel metrics to inform decisions and improve hiring outcomes.
