Compensation
Local Pay: $30 $40/hour
Traveler Pay: $40 $50/hour
Position Overview
A reputable healthcare organization in the New York City area is seeking an experienced Cardiac Monitor Technician to provide continuous cardiac surveillance and advanced ECG monitoring for hospitalized patients. This role plays a critical part in identifying cardiac rhythm abnormalities supporting emergency response efforts and ensuring patient safety through precise monitoring and communication.
Key Responsibilities
Cardiac Monitoring & Patient Safety
Perform continuous ECG/EKG monitoring with accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
Analyze ECG strips and promptly identify potentially life-threatening rhythm changes
Initiate emergency response procedures and assist during code situations including rhythm documentation
Respond appropriately to all monitor alarms and troubleshoot monitoring system issues
Record and maintain telemetry data in compliance with clinical and regulatory standards
Diagnostic & Technical Duties
Perform electrocardiograms in various clinical settings ensuring correct electrode placement
Safely operate manage and maintain cardiac monitoring and related medical equipment
Ensure all cardiac data and rhythm strips are correctly labeled and stored
Communication & Administrative Support
Communicate clearly and professionally with charge nurses physicians and interdisciplinary teams
Enter and verify orders within the electronic medical record system
Retrieve laboratory results and escalate critical findings to appropriate clinical staff
Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with organizational policies
Required Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) required
Completion of an approved Dysrhythmia Interpretation Course required
Preferred Skills
Strong knowledge of cardiac rhythms and arrhythmia interpretation
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-acuity and emergency situations
Excellent attention to detail and patient safety awareness
Strong teamwork and communication skills
